This was to remove excess felt but in no way compromises it's quality. It is one of the thickest of the "pads" still with its brushed out locks and squidgy feel too. This piece could be further worked on by a textile fingered person, to make a small shoulder covering. It perfectly fits an adults neck, with the rest slightly draping
